The President of the BDO Capital & Investment Corporation Eduardo V. Francisco was a speaker on the February 26, 2022 SMIT CEO and Leaders Congress “Blazing the trail for Management and Technology Innovation”. This event was held by The School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT). Francisco was really a great individual who would advise us young employees with rational and actionable advice. I will now discuss the simple lessons on how to climb up the corporate ladder. I will give a summary to his presentation.

Francisco talked a lot about his experience. He said that in every stage of his life, you will face and focus on different priorities i.e. first, physiological; second, safety; third, love/belonging; fourth, esteem; and fifth, self-actualization.

I learned that, when I am already working for a firm, I should be aware that my bosses are always attentive of my actions. The bosses in an organization always look for employees who they want to promote. It is always like this. The higher ups have a mental model of the business being able to continue and operate. In understanding this, a boss will continually think of who to promote next.

Accept and accept tasks given to you by your boss. When your boss asks you to do something and you do it well, it may be even outside your work, your boss will have trust in you. For example, a boss may ask you to set up a meeting, lead a team of employees, or help them. Being competent and

Always look well dressed. It is important to present yourself properly. Whenever you are, you should make yourself and yourself look decent. It can be done in simple ways. Whether it be in a car, in your house, or outside, you can clean up. An example is changing your background in a video conference meeting.

As you reach high in your career, you will help others. Learn to deal with seniors. You are going to be coordinating with them. Learn to get along and have interpersonal skills to deal with people.

Another point that he made is that success is not just all work. We need creativity. We need to think about others. We need to think about what we can give. We need to work on how to be effective in progressing.

Writing is a needed skill. You should write well. And you should know how to use powerpoint and excel.

Francisco ended the presentation on the lesson to learn lifelong. Reminding that learning never stops and to remember to usr them.
